Family Campus Campaign
WONDERFUL GENEROSITY CELEBRATED AT SACRED HEART'S DONOR APPRECIATION EVENING
On the evening of May 20th all Family Campus Campaign donors were invited to celebrate what Campaign Chairman, Danny Chedrawe called "the most successful independent school campaign in the history of Halifax."“Can you believe it?" said Danny... "We are standing in the Fred George Gymnasium at Fountain Academy of the Sacred Heart." Danny expressed the Campaign Committee’s sincere thanks to all donors. "I am amazed with what we have accomplished together," he said "and I would like to thank every individual who gave for their support."
Danny was also delighted to announce that the campaign had received a second gift from Margaret and David Fountain which brought their total contribution to over $2.25 million. "Margaret and David's gifts," said Danny, "and those of other legacy donors, benefactors and supporters at all levels means that our Family Campus Campaign closes this evening with some $4.75 million in pledges and donations." This is $250,000 more than the original goal of $4.5 million.
Following Danny's remarks, Margaret Fountain captured our imagination with thoughtful reflections on the Promethean nature of genuine philanthropy and the story of her husband David's swift reaction when it appeared that the economy was not supporting the momentum of our campaign. "Philanthropy," she said, "gives us momentum, structure, direction and stability. The word is clear and inspiring... powerful and beneficial."
As a grand finale to the evening, Headmistress, Patricia Donnelly, Board Chairman, Mark Bursey and Fountain Academy Head Boy, Elliott Kerrin assisted Danny Chedrawe in unveiling the Family Campus Campaign Donor Appreciation Wall located in the foyer of Fountain Academy.
The entire evening was a wonderful opportunity for Sacred Heart supporters to get together and raise a toast to the future of the School.
Our Campaign Chairman expressed all of our campaign workers feelings when he concluded: "We feel tremendous appreciation for your generosity. Thank you, Thank you and Thank you!!!
