Senior Primary to Grade Six
The Journey Begins
These are the formative years, and we take our responsibility to develop the whole child very seriously. Our goal is to make this a journey of discovery. We encourage our students to grow and develop cognitively, physically and spiritually. Children are engaged in mind, body and soul. Our curriculum covers the entire spectrum. Students learn about language, religion and spirituality, mathematics, science, social studies, French, art, music, physical education, and information technology.
We also offer our Grade 1 and 2 Bilingual/Immersion Programme during which students take instruction in both English and French — half a day each. Early, extensive, concentrated exposure to the two languages enables the children to develop strong language skills in both languages. The French instruction continues throughout the Elementary years with an emphasis on bi-lingual fluency
We also have wonderful music and art programmes that give children a foundation of knowledge and enjoyment they will carry with them throughout their lives.
Religious education is also a central focus of Sacred Heart. All students in all grades participate in religion classes. We are very proud that our students come from a wide variety of religious and cultural backgrounds. In the religious studies classes, working together toward mutual understanding and respect is fostered. Emphasis is placed on God's love for all people. All students are involved in learning about social justice and are involved in many social justice projects throughout the year.
