Religious Studies
Sacred Heart School of Halifax is a Catholic school which welcomes students from many different religious and cultural traditions.
Religious education is a central focus of the school — it is a key part of our goals, mission and Sacred Heart traditions. All students in all grades participate in religion classes. Students work toward mutual understanding, respect and faith development.Emphasis is placed on God's love for all people. We teach responsibility to respond in faith, hope and love using a wide selection of literature, music and art. Catholic children prepare for the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation in Grades 2 and 3. The students receive the sacraments in their own home parishes. Bible study and personal prayer are developed at all levels. Students are also involved in planning and celebration of liturgies.
Sacred Heart also fosters concern for social justice in all our students; it is one of the main goals of the school.
