About Sacred Heart Elementary School
At the Sacred Heart Elementary School each child is encouraged to achieve academically, socially and spiritually. The students are supported in all their endeavours by a community made up of students, parents, and teachers.We hope the information on our web site will help you get to know the school. We offer a strong programme of studies as well as a wealth of music, art, physical education and extra-curricular activities for our students.

Joy Carter has taught in various places in Canada. She has taught in her native Newfoundland, in Manitoba, the Northwest Territories and most recently with the Halifax Regional School Board. She is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland: BA(Ed) and Mount St. Vincent University: M(Ed) Reading, M(Ed) Literacy. Joy has been involved in many teaching situations as classroom teacher, administrator, resource teacher, Reading Recovery teacher, and Literacy Coordinator. Joy has one daughter, Janet. Janet began her elementary education here at the Sacred Heart School. "I am honoured to be a part of the Sacred Heart School community in its commitment to learning."
