Accreditation and Memberships

Network of Sacred Heart Schools: Sacred Heart School of Halifax is one of 150 Sacred Heart schools located in 40 countries on five continents around the world. The schools have a common tradition and interact through an exchange programme and a variety of internet connections. The international association of Sacred Heart Alumnae and the Heads of Sacred Heart Schools hold an international meeting every four years.

Sacred Heart School is a founding member of the Canadian Association of Independent Schools (CAIS), an association of eighty established independent schools. CAIS promotes independent schooling in Canada, provides a united voice for its members, provides information to individuals seeking information about Canadian independent schools, provides linkages between schools, by offering professional development opportunities for faculty, and leadership and athletic opportunities for students.

The Atlantic Conference of Independent Schools is an informal network of eight member Schools in the four Atlantic provinces. The Schools work together on issues of shared concern related to education and sponsor athletic competitions several times a year.

The National Coalition of Girls' Schools (NCGS) is a leading advocate for girls' education, believing that girls' schools are the most powerful, transformative learning environments for girls. It serves its Member Schools as they prepare young women to be the visionaries and leaders who will make the world a better one for all.

The Canadian Educational Standards Institute (CESI) assures parents and students that the schools' claims of academic excellence or superiority are supported by hard evidence. They are the largest, non-profit, national accrediting organization in Canada and for more than 20 years, their mission has been to promote educational excellence in independent schools.

The International Boys' Schools Coalition, founded in 1995, is a not-for-profit coalition of independent, parochial and public schools from around the world. They are dedicated to the education and development of boys, the professional growth of those who work with them, and the advocacy and the advancement of institutions that serve them.
